Important Obama Book Just Released
Wednesday, October 29th, 2008Palin Supports Amnesty
Monday, October 27th, 2008So much to hope, for nothing. A typical Republican, rendered too schizophrenic by the media to embrace the political coalition she already has, and forced to fantasize about some future coalition of those hard-working family-loving Mexican illegal immigrants. Mexicans may be hard-working and family-loving, but they’re still voting 70-21 to stick it to whitey by voting Obama, this despite McCain’s alienating his base and sucking up to them by supporting amnesty the last four years*. Unlike the 40-45% of white fools voting for Obama, Obama-voting Hispanics are concerned about their families, not anyone else’s, and they’re pretty enthusiastic to see your family’s wealth “redistributed” by Obama to their families.
You can’t really blame people who have no cultural history of respecting private property (e.g. post-colonial Mexico) for voting to get free money. The blame rests with the idiots who vote against their own interests in silly displays of status. It’s a luxury we can no longer afford. May status-based voting against one’s interest fall away with the rest of the sickening luxury of the mania era, a historical curiosity of the insanity of our times when we all thought we would get rich lending money to broke people.
Four years of Obama should be just the medicine. Or else we’re going to have to cut off California, New York and the rest of the blue states (where this idiocy prevails) with a hacksaw to preserve the Real America. Czechloslovakia is now the Czech Republic and Slovakia, without a shot being fired. Why not a similar amicable divorce for the Obama-nation and the Red State Republic?
*It should be noted that the “Hispanic” category used in this poll is an exceedingly poor way to describe many different people from Mexicans to Cubans. The 21% Hispanic vote for McCain are likely very opposed to amnesty, patriotic Americans without any lingering loyalties to Mexico.
Are People Who Work Chumps?
Monday, October 27th, 2008I mean, after providing for a basic lifestyle for your family. This guy makes me feel like being lazy, or else just spend money throwing sand in the gears of such an oppressive system that gives merely the illusion of keeping what you earn.

Thursday, October 16th, 2008It’s nice to not be the only “extremist” anymore:
I don’t know that Weimar is a good example right now. Commodities are dropping, so deflation is the current watchword. Strategy: hold cash. I use American Century’s Capital Preservation Fund: it’s the only remaining fund from a solvent company that invests exclusively in Treasury notes, and you can write checks on it. Yield is low, about 1%, but right now the focus should be on return OF investment, not return ON investment. Keep only 6-8 months’ expenses in the bank, well below FDIC levels. If you think Bush, Obama or McCain won’t call a bank holiday and lock out your access to cash, you have too much faith in government.
The gummint is much less likely to restrict mutual fund money outside of the banking system, as the “right” kind of people (the kind who work at Goldman Sachs) flush with bailout money are going to need liquidity to finish picking the flesh off of the US economy’s carcass. A similar thing happened in Russia under Yeltsin, where the neocons’ “shock therapy” resulted in a Jewish oligarch ripping off the Russian people by buying all of Russia’s oil and gas assets for $150 million.
I still struggle with this issue though. The big question is whether the depression/recession will be inflationary or deflationary. The strategies for both are divergent. Better to keep your eyes on the data, not the rhetoric. And with oil 50% down from the peak, I’m thinking deflation right now. I’d still diversify into 25% foreign currencies as a hedge. Other good investments right now (after paying off debt) are home generators (with an underground 250/500 gallon propane tank for backup fuel), non-perishable foods, and of course, guns and ammo. Buy stuff likely to be banned in an Obama administration (”scary” looking guns that liberals don’t like) and it’s the ultimate buy-and-hold for the secular financial apocalypse.
You can’t eat gold, food doesn’t pay for itself and you need guns and ammo to protect both. That’s the paper, rock, and scissors for the Depression lifestyle.
But Weimar will eventually happen (there is historical precedent to say that deflation happens first, then hyperinflation), and the question is what comes next. I hope for an Andrew Jackson-style blood and soil Jeffersonian revolution, not a Hitler, Stalin or FDR. We don’t need socialism and wars. We just need to shut down the central bank and surgically address our demographic problems without growing the state overall. Andy Jackson, while not perfect, did not significantly grow the government but succeeded in shutting down the Federal Reserve of his era while openly defying the Supreme Court to deal with the unpleasant but necessary evil of relocating unassimable groups to protect and grow the Republic.
Bailout Passes
Friday, October 3rd, 2008Ok, so here’s what went down. Those of us who live in parts of the country not stupid enough to overpay for houses get to subsidize lenders who thought loaning out $500k+ on third-world shacks to third-world people in third-world Los Angeles was a good business idea (you know, if they own it, they won’t burn it, right?):
(You might want to turn off the audio, though it is appropriate for the setting)
And my SOB Congressman Kevin Brady voted for it twice. What a loser. Here’s Kevin:

He’s got to be one of the ugliest Congress-critters I’ve ever seen; dumb too apparently, since there would be zero cost to opposing this bone-headed plan none of his constituents want. I remember he used to represent College Station while I was at A&M; the real conservatives supported his opponent, Dr. Gene Fontenot, but Brady was the choice of the compromisers. Brady won.
Some things never change.
