You make my point for me. There is a qualitative difference between a theology and a divinity degree, and Huck should know that. I don’t see it as a major issue, just a minor point that reflects Huckabee’s thin skin and his little-man need to “one-up” everybody, even when he has to exaggerate to do so.

First, let me say that I am no fan of Huck. I voted for Ron Paul in the Iowa caucuses.

That said, I see two problems with this entry:

1) It’s not clear whether Huckabee was working on an M.Div., Th.M., or something else. While some degree programs at some schools place the emphasize on languages you discuss, many do not. I know a pastor personally who has an M.Div. from a Southern Baptist seminary that did not require intensive study of multiple languages.

2) There is definitely not “near-ubiquity of Ph.D.s among pastors,” especially among Baptists. Many churches would be happy to hire a pastor with no graduate degree.

The Huckster, Mr. UpcHuckabee himself, is not only a liar and a fraud, but he is weak on basic conservative principles. He only has one of the three legs of the Reagan Republican stool that supported his landslide victories, while Mitt Romney has all three down pat.

Romney in 2008 (beginning less than 10 days from now)!

You mean to suggest that a guy born in a town called Hope, who grew up to become Governor of Arkansas, and who names Dick Morris among his closest advisors, would lie about things and make decisions only after consulting Gallup, Rasmussen, and Zogby?
