Obama Sends a Shout-Out to His Homeboy Pastor Rick

An amusing little story about a half-black candidate who acts white trying to act black while preaching to a mixed audience of happy black people and weird, awkward white people clapping their hands out-of-rhythm trying to feel more “spiritual” by trying to be black people. We certainly live in a mixed up country! The candidate, culturally a white Midwestern liberal, is doing his best to identify with the southern black people who dominate Democratic primaries, and no doubt an image consultant of some sort filled him in on the practice of calling down Holy Wealth Redistribution common among the lower classes of Pentecostals, white and black, in the South. Distribute your tithes to the preacher, who God hath given an Escalade, and it shall be returned to you ten times over. And then there’s the liberal social gospel variant- give your votes to the Democrat, and it shall be returned to you in welfare benefits one hundred times the cost of the effort of getting to the polls. Not to mention the free chicken dinner for turnout!

One of the most interesting angles was Obama’s endorsement of Rick Warren as his kind of evangelical:

Obama noted that he was pleased leaders in the evangelical community like T.D. Jakes and Rick Warren were beginning to discuss social justice issues like AIDS and poverty in ways evangelicals were not doing before.

“I think that’s a healthy thing, that we’re not putting people in boxes, that everybody is out there trying to figure out how do we live right and how do we create a stronger America,” Obama said.

Translation: so what if I want to murder babies, that’s putting me in a “box” and besides, it’s much more important to Jesus that we stick our hands into middle class wallets to subsidize illegitimate babies and keep AIDS patients alive with $500-a-month drug cocktails courtesy of the taxpayer. “Social justice” means “Socialism = Justice”.

The church where Obama visited calls itself the “Redemption World Outreach Center”. Sounds important- I bet they have a semi-circle display of flags of different countries in their parking lot to demonstrate how much more they care about missions than anyone else. In fact, this church is so important that they don’t even have a pastor. No, they have a real live APOSTLE. Check it out:

Together, Apostles Ron and Hope founded Redemption World Outreach Center in 1991 with three members and an undying heart for outreach.

If you thought T.D. Jakes was important because he gave himself the title of bishop, then you better watch out for the husband-and-wife tag team of apostles. I find it so amazing that there would be even two real live apostles left, and then that they would go to the same little Pentecostal Christian college, and then get married! Amazing evidence of God’s presence in their lives, wouldn’t you agree? I mean, other than that, the only possibility would be that they are taking advantage of poor and/or dumb people by promising them material benefits in this life based on dubious interpretations of Scripture and magical, primitive reasoning:

LORD, we thank you that Redemption World Outreach Center operates in the multiplication anointing. We multiply in every area of ministry. We thank you that we are financially multiplying. Money is coming from unknown sources. We thank you that your Word declares that the wealth of the wicked is laid up for the righteous.

Redemption World Outreach Center will experience the miracle of debt cancellation! Every member and every partner in the name of Jesus! Every service will be filled with people regardless of how many services. I command thousands and thousands to come now from the north, from the south, from the east, and from the west! Angels go! Bring them now! Prompt diligent, dedicated, committed, sold out, tithing, on fire, anointed, Bible carrying, devil stomping believers now in the name of Jesus. Bring the hurt, bring the sick, bring the poor, bring the depressed, and they shall be healed in Jesus name!

“In the name of Jesus, I press for the billion flow. Billion flow cometh to Redemption World Outreach Center that we may impact our world for the glory of God.”

The billion flow? What is that? Why not the trillion flow? This name it claim it theology cracks me up.

I guess since Obama is a Democrat it was okay for him to appear in their church. No problem with church/state issues or the tax code.

    “Can’t be explained only experienced.”

Is that like, from the inside looking out, it can’t be explained, from the oustide looking in you wouldn’t understand?

Well, that’s just condescending and goofy. Especially for a church.

If these “apostles” have this kind of power in their prayers, why not pray for the salvation of every person in the world - COMMAND them to be saved, immediately, and then we can all rest and relax for the rest of our time in this world.

Do they even understand the definition of an apostle? The thing is, I understand why people would try to get away with this kind of fraud. What I DON’T understand is how there are actual people - real, live ones with brains in their heads - who FALL for it. And do these democratic candidates not realize that it makes them look stupid to all the rest of Americans? Or are they expecting us to be as gullible as the people who attend this “church” (which I use very loosely in this context).

It’s all pandering to people with ears that like tickling because they want a get out of hell free card while still being in and of the world. Same old story.

However, it is true that Ron Paul’s election might be the beginning of the next Great Awakening.

This is an absurd attack on RWOC. It is obvious that you have not attended a service or even done any real homework on this subject. I am neither impressed or moved by your rantings, since you are only a few in the army of rating seeking, wanna be outspoken, smear mongers, misleading yourselves and your followers into believing your speaking Christian truth. You have only shown that you have seen their website and you don’t like Obama. I myself avidly oppose Obama, but am not ignorant enough to just burn down his trail and everyone in it. Nothing exposes truth more than the truth, so let him speak and condemn himself. It shows blatant idiocy to refuse to let someone speak because you don’t agree with them. No one stops rambling morons like you from exposing the idiocy behind your message. Instead of just bashing Christian organizations, for what you don’t understand, open the Bible and try reading. I am amazed that you are claiming to speak on a Christian message without even knowing what an Apostle is. If you can squeeze a little time into your useless ramblings to read Galatians, maybe you can criticize God for ordaining the fivefold ministry. Maybe debate God about the title and call him an idiot for creating it or does this type of thought meet the needs of your ratings. At the end of the day, when all is said and done, the question is only “How many people have your works brought to Christ?” Apostle Ron Carpenter can proudly answer that question. How about you?

Joe, given the number of people who play the lottery, I’m not at all surprised that people are willing to come to a “Christianity” whose hallmark is an irrational means to achieving materialistic desires. Any pastor who lets Obama speak at his church has some serious theological problems. Why not invite Stalin? He killed fewer people than the abortion holocaust that people like Obama are responsible for.

Joe, if you were a pastor, would you let someone who believes that women have the right to choose to kill their children speak in your church? Would you allow someone to come speak at your church who will not acknowledge our flag, which was birthed in a battle for a nation that recognizes God as it’s creator and Jesus Christ as it’s Lord? Would you allow someone who supports gay marriage and the gay agenda to speak in your church and offer their views? It would make more of a statement to stand against falsehood than to allow it to speak. Doesn’t the Word of God say to avoid even the appearance of evil? Everything this man stands for is subversive to the beliefs this nation was founded on, and voices like that should be silenced, not given a platform to speak - especially a podium in a building used to worship God. Remember: when Jesus spoke to the legion, they only spoke when He asked them a question, and they spoke no more. Should we not treat evil, and those who represent it, the same way? Shepherds are required to keep the wolves at bay, not to allow them into the center of the flock.
