I've long thought Lee Greenwood's little song was overrated.  I understand that people are responding correctly to his patriotism, but I wish he had written something else than,  "where at least I know I'm free".  I would hope that Americans' greatest hopes go way past that (only personal freedom, and just me).  How about "justice AND liberty for ALL",  or "life, liberty and property", or that God would add "Brotherhood from sea to shining sea."

Oh well, its just an ordinary patriotic song, not a great one, and everybody probably knows that.

And thanks for your fourth of July optimism about important national developments!  Sorry I took too long to respond.
